Terrible Gun laws in America

In America, more than 500 people die due to guns. There have been 1.5million shootings from 1968-2017. American gun laws are extremely free, in which they shouldn’t be. You can buy a gun from the age of 18, at that age you cannot even consume alcohol which makes it extremely bad to have guns allowed at this age.

In 2018, 390 million guns were in circulation. And most households in America have at least one gun in them. “One study, published by the Annals of Internal Medicine in February, found that 7.5 million US adults – just under 3% of the population – became first new gun owners between January 2019 and April 2021.” said BBC news. This shows that gun laws are way too free if people can just buy them with no background checks, no special classes on how to function them etc. In Texas, there was a shooting of a 19 year old man killing 20 kids at school. The fact that things like this are still happening in 2022 are so extremely disgusting and tragic. This man obviously had guns for a bad reason and should have been  checked beforehand.

In America, it’s has been openly admitted that background checks are not properly done which can be the main part of the problem, “But an equally big problem is that the system of background checks is notoriously underfunded, understaffed, and under resourced, allowing red flags to slip through.” said vox.

In 2015, Dylan’s Roof killed 19 people at a black church. Dylann  had a bad background of drugs and other bad things, so this was a failed background check cause he should have never been given a gun. This was back in 2015 and now in 2022 nothing has changed considering things like this are still happening and even more often. So, there hasn’t been an evolution at all.
